Robbins-Gioia (RG) is a government contractor that specializes in MRO consultation and software development.
Air Force ALC application, 2022-2024. RG's contract with the Air Force was to update the interface for an existing system, improve the user flow, and expand functionality with items like a dashboard and permission-based "My Work" modules. Note: Samples not shown due to sensitive data content.
Working with the Contract Leadership team for two years as the sole UI/UX Designer, I was involved in every aspect of the project: In-depth user research at AFALC facilities, design meetings with stakeholder and devs, mockups and prototypes (including coding HTML and CSS prototypes), Figma project design system creation, spec handoff to devs, dev build reviews, and product feature planning meetings.
Design revamp and user flow changes resulted in easier training for new Air Force users as well as improved feedback to ALC site reps and project tracking.
Optics MRO, 2024-2025. RG had a basic data entry structure for their commercial MRO product, Optics MRO. However, it did not have a user flow or consistent design throughout the application. So the challenge was to revamp the design, implement a user flow incorporating dashboard and consistent navigation patterns, and design sign-in portals and help pages to improve its commercial client appeal.
Working with the Project Manager, I helped define user flow using several MRO personas. I revamped or created new designs for all pages, making navigation patterns and design consistent, and created a user flow with dashboard for MRO personas. As the sole UI/UX Designer, I was involved in all steps of the project: Design meetings with stakeholder and devs, mockups and prototypes (including coding HTML and CSS prototypes), Figma project component library, spec handoff to devs, dev build reviews, QA support with user testing, and product feature planning meetings with leadership.
Design revamp, navigation fixes, and landing page dashboard received accolades from executive team and vastly improved user feedback. All of the changes resulted in a pilot program with a new client following the first release.
